PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: ICE NINE PRODUCTIONS
Ice Nine Productions and Nationwide Video have been partners in the live events industry for a long time. Both companies have worked shoulder to shoulder and celebrated each other’s continuous growth. We spoke with the team at Ice Nine about their experience with one of Nationwide’s newer divisions: Nationwide Case.
Nationwide: Can you give us the back story of your company and share a bit about the type of work you do?
John Dubil : Ice 9 Productions began over 2 decades ago when Matt Geiser bought his first Vista Spyder and began providing his services as a widescreen specialist. He accumulated a ton of gear and ran around the country doing projection and widescreens for premiere live events for a dozen years. His equipment collection grew, with select purchases of the most advanced equipment available on the market.
This accumulating equipment needed a place to ship to and from – and Chaz Loews and Stinger Staging provided that space and assistance with logistics. With Chaz being a superb audio engineer with significant high-end equipment, and Matt being a leading video engineer – they partnered to provide event solutions and eventually merged in 2019 which more than doubled the size of Ice 9 Productions.
Matt and Chaz are perfectly aligned in their commitment to using the absolute best technologies, built into systems that offer the most advanced presentation technologies available anywhere.
Ice 9 Productions and Stinger Staging began as a sole proprietorship audio and video companies – founded on close relationships and trust with producers, technical directors, and event production companies of all sizes.
NW: Do you recall when you started working with Nationwide Video as a wholesale rental partner?
JD: The partnership between Ice 9 Productions and Nationwide Video started well over a decade ago. As any growing company experiences, the demand quickly outgrows the supply and it becomes a struggle to keep up with the current inventory. In order to not limit the growth of the company, it becomes necessary to start working with partners. One of the partners that we found was Nationwide Video. We really appreciated the fact that they felt like a true partner, not just a supplier. The quality of gear paired with the commitment to providing a support system of services is what keeps us coming back.
NW: What was your experience like getting cases before you started getting cases through Nationwide Case?
Matt Geiser: We’ve got a lot of cases for our equipment over the years. There isn’t a case company on the planet that hasn’t made a mistake but how you respond to mistakes is what really matters. Some companies will try to deflect shortcomings or try to stick their customer with the imperfect cases. Nationwide Case strives for perfection and the fact that Nationwide prioritizes its customers is key.
Chaz Loews: Rentals with Nationwide are great and cases are constantly improving as we go. We recently purchased 20 cases and they have been working great for us. Nationwide Cases are only trending upwards in quality which is very important for us.
NW: Were there any shortcomings that other companies had that you were looking to improve on with Nationwide Case?
JD: As we sort of touched on earlier, we’ve tried quite a few case manufacturers and when they were making mistakes, they weren’t as committed to getting the product right or resolving issues. This industry is imperfect and we understand that so the relationship and commitment to getting things right is very important to us. With Nationwide Case, we feel like we’re going to get what we need rather than settling for cases with issues.
NW: Can you speak to your experience with the cases you got from Nationwide Case? How is the build quality, durability, design, etc.
JD: The build quality is great and always improving. The cases feel very sturdy and feel like they were built with a lot of attention to detail. We know that Nationwide Case chooses quality materials so the cases feel like they’re actually going to last. We also appreciate that they seem like they’re always striving to satisfy. We share the same corporate values so it’s very nice to be aligned on desired outcomes.
NW: What products have you gotten cases for?
JD: NW Case designed a cool portable break room for us. Featuring a coffee maker and a printer, this thing is your best friend on show site. We’ve also gotten various cable trunks which are super durable and very convenient for getting cable from point A to point B.
Nationwide Case designs and manufactures custom cases for the live events industry. Going beyond just casing gear, Nationwide Case also makes custom builds like portable break rooms.
